Please, Review My Profile

Hey guys,

this is my first time posting here.
I am on UpWork for a few month now, and it starts to get a little bit momentum.
This week I will breach the 1000 Dollar total earnings.

However, I am still pretty unsatisfied, how few of my proposals come back with an interview invitation.

Could you guys give me a short review of my profile?
What do you like?
What dont you like?
What would you change?

I would appreciate any Feedback!

Not sure about your problem.

But, I would hide those " Below Average " test results from my profiles and wouldn't wear sunglasses for a professional photo-shoot.

Best of luck!

thanks for your suggestion i will change photo as per your suggestion.

I've heard that when you turned into a TOP RATED seller, when you submit a proposal, you got a higher priority.

But, I'm trying to get a job for about one and a half month, didn't get.

Do anyone have any suggestion for this?

Is there something wrong on my profile? Can anyone tell me?

This is my profile link: http://www.upwork.com/o/profiles/users/_~01794418f611378488/

Your profile looks good, you have previous work history and a 90% Job Success rate which is good. Just make sure that the jobs you're applying for meet your qualifications, and you're also competitive with your price bidding. You are competing against other individuals of all skills and experience, some of which are also top rated like yourself.

Md Mahedi:

I think your profile page is not at all designed for success.

Your page looks the same as the pages of a million other people from the same country. You list the same set of skills, as a million other contractors.

So your page is, by definition, very boring. It's enough to get by, clearly... Enough to get some jobs. But this isn't the profile page of an in-demand, specialist.

Basically, the problem you face is that there is no compelling reason a client should hire you instead of a million other essentially identical contractors.

Hi, I am new to Upwork. I am wondering how I can earn rising star and top rated status. Aside from those, I have some clients who don't give me any responses for a month or two. If they decline my proposal then I would know and look for other job postings, but because they aren't responding I just don't know what to do. Any tips or suggestions? Thank you.

Hello Steve,

there are gonna be a lot of times where you send in a Proposal and you don't get any reply. A LOT of times.

I suggest you just send as many Proposals as you'd like, and once they've been sent you don't look back at them. If the Client wants to hire you, you'll hear back from him/her. If not, there's no use in staring at these Proposals hoping for a reply. That won't change anything. 😉

Hi Steve,

For starters, you need to upload a real photo of yourself since using logos is a violation of our ToS. You also might want to consider adding Portfolio samples and creating a profile video.

Hi Vladimir, I am fully aware that it is a violation to not use a real "photo," but because I care about my privacy, I don't really want to post my photo. I am sure that there are lots of people who don't like posting photos of themselves.

Wow, ha, it's funny that somehow my question got merged with someone else'. I wonder who did that.

Indeed there may be.  You also have the option of no photo at all, but will probably have to verify your identity sooner or later.  But the you will have to remove the logo pic like Vlad said.  Add portfolio peices.

re: "I am fully aware that it is a violation to not use a real "photo," but because I care about my privacy, I don't really want to post my photo. I am sure that there are lots of people who don't like posting photos of themselves."

There is nothing wrong with wanting to maintain privacy and anonymity. Many people who desire those things don't create profiles on the world's leading online work platform.

But as Katrina mentioned, all you need to do is remove the icon and have no photo, and you have a chance to get your profile approved if there are not other problems.

I don't know how far your desire for privacy extends. Upwork does not always cater to that preference. Ultimately, if a contractor wants to not show their face, not show their earnings, not use their real name, etc., Upwork isn't the right place for them. But other websites are accommodating of these choices.

Hi Preston, thanks for your suggestion. Can you show me how to remove the photo? Because I couldn't really find it. Also other than the photo, all others are real, so I guess my profile got approved.:) So any more tips?

Can someone pls help me with my first job? Some advice or check my profile pls.

I try to make good and honost profile, write different covers, and make 15 proposals in 2 day. And still get only ignored, I will not be so frustrated, if someone at least talk with me and we find 'why client cant hire me' but i dont know what i have to fix. Maybe I dont get some basical? I suppose, that there are  _a lot_ of other beginners, but i have >3 years exp work in office 8 hours every day with different projects. I can to work well and i want to work(

Abdulla:

Your profile is set to private.

So we can't see it.

And of course clients can't find it if they do a search.

OH MY GOSH. I am SO stupid. Thank you, Preston, a lot!

Abdulla,

Don't worry. LOTS of people do this.

You're not out of the woods yet, though... When you sent proposals, the clients you sent proposals to WERE ABLE to see your profile, and if you weren't getting hired, there may be good reasons why...

It takes a few minutes to a few hours for your profile to become public after you change the setting... Once we can see it, we can take a look...

It will be really nice form you, thanks a lot. I will be glad to hear some advice 😃 cause i have 15 proposals for now.

Hellom is my profile hidden for now too?

I can see your profile now.

There are a lot of good things here.

Your profile is focused on one skill. A skill that is in demand. I think you will find success here.

Remove the first line:

"Hello, my name is Abdulla."

This is redundant and looks bad in the client-side interface.

Remove the part that says you will work for good reputation (good feedback). This is unprofessional, and borderline prohibited.

Hire a native English speaker to edit and correct your overview text. It is not bad now, but it will be worth the investment to fix all the mistakes. Don't try to fix the mistakes yourself. Attempting to do so would be a waste of your time.

Abdulla, your biggest problem now is that you do not have any Upwork job history. You need to focus on applying to some small fixed-price contracts and doing a great job on them and getting some positive feedback.

Thank you, a lot Preston, You gave me more than just advice. YOu give me confidence. And here I am - i got and done today my first job for 5 stars 😃 Buy i have only 8 connects free. Will paid prem acc probably. And again - thank you ( I edited my profile, can you check it again pls? )

You talk about "we" well if you are a "we" you need to open an agency and all your "we" people need to have thier own accounts under your agency

Hello

I have a good profile and  i am always available with first response.I also submit my proposals regualarly. But I have no client's feedback and working hours as i am newbie in upwork. Why I don't receive any response from clients???Any advice for me...

If you badly need a job, then you need to log out of Upwork and go get a job in your local economy.

Upwork is NOT a place for people who badly need a job.

Upwork is a place where clients can be connected with professional contractors who can provide specific skilled service to them.

You got your Bachelor's degree in a just one year, that's great.

I was in the same University, sadly it took over four years.

sorry for my wrong information . would you like to check my profile again?..any suggession for me..

I have worked as freelancer for few months and still not able to get any client.

Can you give me some advice?

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

First you should hide the poor test score and maybe take some tests specifically related to your skills. If you don't pass don't show the score.

Your profile doesn't say anything about your skills or experience, you should update t with specifics abput work you have done and how you have acquired your skills.

You need a portfolio showing work you have completed.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Would You like say me if some no professional, like me, perchance has some chance to get that someone wants contract, or only professionals are considered. If You want make me a helping, see my profile and say me if really I have some chance here, or I am wasting the time. Best regrets.

I can't imagine anyone seeing your profile that would want to hire you. If you are not a professional translator as you say, why would you even try to open a profile on a freelancing platform?

Edit: why did you select English: fluent on your profile? Do you think people can't tell you're not? And there is more, while a translator doesn't need to have a perfect command of their source language, in your case I doubt you have enough knowledge of English to understand it perfectly, let alone to translate from English.
