Receiving Payments

If a client has approved release of payment for a completed project, why is it in Pending status for so long? Why does it take Upwork such a long time to release payment? The client has already paid and the money is in an escrow account, right?

That question has been asked many times and no clear reason has been given. It's probably partly to try to reduce fraud, but I've seen escrow funded many weeks before work was submitted and approved and there was still a three-day holding period.

For hourly projects, the Upwork work week ends at 8:00 PM New York time every Sunday and released by Upwork two Wednesdays later.

That's just the way it is.
