How Do I Reopen Closed Account

in attempt to close my client account and keep the freelancer side of it, i closed my whole account! and i don't have a clue about how to get it back so please help me, thanks in advance.

PS: I'm using this fake account just to access this chat box.

How do I reach a human in customer support?

 

  1. Please visit Contact Support and click the 'Chat with Upwork' button.
  2. Type a question or topic and select 'Send'. The bot will find relevant Help articles for you.
  3. The chatbot will ask you to confirm if you need additional help. If you confirm that you need additional help, you will be asked to confirm the account type you need help with.
  4. From there, the support options available to you will be listed. Select either of the options to be able to contact the Upwork Support Team.

Hello,

Today I am raising a very serious issue i.e. regarding Upwork account reopening process which is that they don't reopen an account after it is being closed.

 

I’ve mistakenly closed my verified account on 26th September 2023 .I have tried to reopen my closed account & received a ticket ID and have been receiving continuously this automated message from support staff saying:

 

 

Hi, Anika

Thank you for your patience while we worked on your account.

We are now ready to proceed with the final agent review. After this step, we will either confirm that your account has been successfully reopened or inform you of any eligibility issues that may arise.

To initiate the final agent review, kindly reply to this email with the reason for your request. Once we receive your response, our team will promptly proceed with the review process.

Best regards,
Upwork Support Team

 

 

I respond to the above message every single time but didn't receive a follow up mail from the support staff which is very unprofessional.

 

Can anybody please escalate my complaint to the higher authorities so that this issue of ghosting customer complaints can be resolved on priority basis?

 

The ticket ID that has been assigned to me on 26th September 2023 is #42852588

 

DISCLAIMER: I had to make this fake account to raise my voice in this community in the hope that my issue will get resolved on priority basis as my main account is closed and unusable. Once I get my account back I will close this fake account.

I'm having a problem. Upwork terminated my account for unknown reasons. I can't see my work history, payments, or my 100% job success badge after I asked them to reopen it and regain access to my account. How can I reclaim all of this information?

don't think you can....i had to open a new one 2-3 years back and lost 200 reviews I had on odesk and elance....and now seems that bid system is too expensive with 10 free /month you can apply to 1-2 projects and nobody notice you

Hi Annie,
Thank you for providing this information. I'm mainly worried about the missing information on my profile and how I'll get it restored, because the support tickets you said above have been fixed, but this is another issue for which I have yet to generate a ticket or receive assistance from the support team.

Hi. I have no way to recover my old account, as the access to my old computer that was at my former job is lost (email and secret password I can't remember) and I am now in another country. I have created an Upwrok account before using my old email. It's probably years since I have not used it and must have been teh reason why no matter I tried to log in to using the old email it says it recognized but can't log in. I used a new email to set up an Upwork account but I would like to change the email I used using the same old gmail that I have been using for years. Can Anyone please help me!? I tried to reachout from support chat but I don't get any useful help from chatbot. It promised to contact me within 48 hrs but it's been over a week and I have not recevied any help.

Can't really help but adding my reply to point out that Upwork system is broken in many ways and now emails included. I am still receiving emails to my old email I used to register here, while at the same time getting emails to the email to which I switched to. Yes, it has been several years since I changed the email, both are still in Upwork use, one without my consent since I removed it. To add to this incompetency in running data servers apparently, my old surname from before the divorce was used for Upwork for years after I changed it, as a main name for my account, about which I had no idea and found out only after I had issues with bank account (again, thanks to Upwork messed up system that mismatched names).

Conclusion, you have to attack them with support tickets constantly until they answer you in a meaningful way. It is unacceptable to have such a mess in customer's data. Upwork staff seems to be unable to even send proper answer because what they were sending me was just copy-paste nonsense from "how to use the website". Still I'm trying.
