How are the # of connects determined?

I came across a $3 1x job posting that required 14 connects to apply.

It doesn't seem to be an anomaly.

Hi Amanda,

The number of Connects required to apply to a job is based on the projected job value. The value is determined by estimating the job's duration and budget, marketplace demand, and other unknown factors.

This is done by an algorithm, so the numbers often do not justify the hourly rate or fixed price for the job.

I have found the ratio of number of connects required to the value of the job way out of whack, like the $3 example above.
