Process when doing a job at Upwork - Resolve required

I am new to Upwork and still feeling my way. I was approached on Upwork by **Edited for Community Guidelines** on 9 April 24 at 3am (CAT). He asked me to do some work and attached some files detailing the work. 8.30am (CAT I responded at 8.30am (CAT) All of this was on the Upwork email messaging service. He asked me to do the work immediately. I submitted the work back to him on the Upwork messaging service at 17.45pm (CAT the same day. He said that if the work was approved then he would make an offer and I would get paid. I don't think it works like this. Please can you resolve with **Edited for Community Guidelines**, AI Tech to follow the process. When can I expect to be paid? then I searched to see if I could diarize this work project on the Upwork diary. No chance. I could not. I also tried to find somewhere that the work could have be uploaded on Upwork. I could not find anything. Please assist me. I would like this to become a fruitful working alliance.
