Staffing Industry Analysts has reported the results of its “North America Temporary Worker Survey 2022: Trends in temp use of talent platforms and work services...” and found Upwork to be the most commonly used business-related site for temporary workers.
The survey, which was conducted with 5,607 temporary workers in North America, found that many turned to app-based delivery jobs most frequently. The most popular services were DoorDash (51%), Uber (42%), and Lyft (23%). Honorable mentions went to Instacart, Amazon Flex, Postmates, and Shipt.
However, when it came to specifically “business-related sites”, Upwork came out on top with 35% of respondents citing Upwork as the platform where they find work most frequently. The next closest competitor was Fiverr at 23% followed by Guru at 19%.
Overall, the survey found that only 9.4% of temporary workers earned through online platforms in 2021. There is still a lot of growth potential.
To illustrate that point, 38% of the temporary workers said they are not familiar with consumer-related work platforms such as Uber or Lyft. What’s more, 68% responded they are not familiar with business-related work platforms such as Upwork or Fiverr.
