Getting Paid to UK account

Hello, 

I think this question is particularly for Upworkers who are locals in the UK and also for the Support Team. I will be happy for this to be discussed on a separate ticket if it needs to be. I want to withdraw some money from my Upwork account to my bank account located in the UK for the first time. Now, I was expecting to be asked by SWIFT or IBAN number for this transfer as I though Upwork to UK transfers would be internationally. Instead, I am being asked to enter just a normal Sort Code and Account Number as if the transfer is happening locally in the UK. Does Upwork have a Cost or Payment Center or a Branch in the UK that makes this transfer possible? Do such transfers actually happen locally from Upwork UK branch to UK banks?
