I realized too late that I'd signed in as a company! Now I'm getting questions about that imaginary company. I'm an individual. How do I change that?? Thanks!

Hi Jolene,
What you can do is to create a freelancer profile under the one you have currently. Go to Settings > My Info page > scroll down to create new account > then create a New Freelancer Account. Once you've created a Freelancer profile, you'd have an option to close your Client account.

Hi Siddhant,
If you would like to represent yourself as a company or work as a team you will need to open an agency profile. You can set up a company bank account as a payment method and withdraw your earnings.
Regarding the forms, I`m not sure what type of form you`re referring to with W8BENE, all you will need to fill out is our W-8BEN form. Thank you.

Thanks for those insights. In W8BEN case, what are tax implications? How much tax gets levied on income earned?

Hi Siddhant,
Unfortunately I can't advise you about this. I would suggest consulting yourself with a local specialist about your taxes and how to report your earnings from Upwork. Thank you.

Ok - I understand about tax implications - it would be sorted out locally.
But here is some information I found regarding W8BENE.
There are five variations of the W-8 form. In addition to the W-8ECI and the W-8BEN, there is also the W-8BEN-E form, which is used by beneficiary owners (businesses only) that claim to be tax residents outside of the United States.

The above phrase which i pasted is under the heading 'Variations of the W-8 Form ' in the above article
