How do I close/delete my account?

Hello. I made a profile on Upwork. When trying to cancel, I get

I want to be able to fix it myself without being forced towards a phone number.

Hi Vikram,

 

If you'd like to close your account, first make sure you withdraw any active proposals on your Proposals page

complete and close any active contracts and don't have any available or pending balance. Then you can close your account by visiting this page. For more information and detailed steps, please visit this help article.


As a gentle reminder, please know that you will not be allowed to create a new account. If you need to use your Upwork account again in the future, you can reach out to us through our different support channels, and we will assist you with reinstating your account.

Hello,
I also need help to close an account that was made using my identity without my consent. I'm not sure if that account might be already deactivated or not but please help me to remove it so I can remove my suspension from this original account.

Hello, I signed up on upwork with a freelancer account. But i do not wish to work on it since I was not aware of the Agency feature.. Now i created an agency and want to hire freelancers on upwork, So i want to cancel my freelancer account and keep using my client account. Kindly help me resolve this issue. Thanks.

I would like to close my Upwork account but when I choose Settings and try to do that in Contact info, it doesn't work.
I'm not able to connect to a real person from Upwork to get support. Why Upwork is trying to make it so difficult?

Dear Upwork Support,

I'm reaching out because I encountered an issue when attempting to close my account. The error messages displayed were as follows:

  • "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again or contact support."
  • "There was an error loading this page: error [8166b45afc084d6e-FRA, 8166b45afc084d6e-FRA]."

In compliance with GDPR Article 17, I respectfully request that you permanently delete my Upwork account and all associated data. I do not wish to have any further conversations or contact; I would like my account to be closed and deleted as soon as possible.
