To make a successful freelancer you'd need the following ingredients:

- A good set of hard and soft skills. Skills-wise you should aim to be in the top 10% freelancers in your niche. Become an expert.

- Communication skills, marketing skills, negotiation skills.

- Good work ethic.

- Entrepreneurial mindset. Freelancing is not like a regular job, but it's like being a business owner.

- Knowledge of the platform you are using (Upwork). Do's and Don'ts, Must be aware of ToS.

- Go through Academy section in Community.

- Go through forum threads in Freelancers, New to Upwork.

- Ask questions in the forum if you're confused about something.

- Have a good profile.

- Good proposal writing.

- Providing top-notch service and making clients happy.

- Getting good feedback on your profile.

Explain me little bit Entrepreneural

That means you must have an ownership mindset. As a freelancer you are an independent contractor, a business owner.

You are not an employee and clients are not employers like in the physical world. This is freelancing world where you work remotely. You provide a service to clients, like business owners in the real world provide products/services to customers.

You are responsible for, marketing, accounting, expenses, budgeting, negotiations, communication and all aspects of YOUR business.

As in all businesses, you have no guarantee of a fixed income every month (like a salary), but you earn according to the number of orders you get (contracts), and the number of customers you get (clients).

Again, as happens when you run a business, there can be ups and downs, there will be good periods where you earn a lot, there will be dry periods where you don't get many customers. You need to plan and be ready for this.

As in all businesses there is some risk initially, you might not be successsful and might have to change things and learn, and there will be slow growth, but the return on investment for business owners who take the risk is usually worth it, and in the long-run they end up earning more compared to regular jobs.

To learn more, search Freelancing vs Jobs on google or YouTube.

EDIT: Sorry, I misspelled the word. It is Entrepreneurial... I corrected it on the other reply. You can search Entrepreneurial Mindset for more info on this.
