Finished product (code) submitted. Not sure if it has been used by the employer. Need help.

I completed and submitted the code for one of the assignments post I was contacted by the employer and asked to work on it. However, later on the employer told me that someone else had already completed the task and submitted. My solution is already with the employer. I am wondering if my solution was used and I was not paid. Can you please suggest if its possible?

ACCEPTED SOLUTION

A discussion does not mean that you were hired.

If you have a real job, it is listed here:

Upwork -> My Jobs -> My Jobs

Did you work without being hired?

Is there a contract on your My Jobs Page?

If you did work without being hired and without a contrat you made a mistake and won't get paid.

Apologies. I have just stared with Upwork. I am not sure how to check if I was 'hired'.

There is however a discussion between me and the employer on messages - screenshot attached.

Sure, thanks.

Will keep that in mind from next time on.

Hi Anshul,

I can confirm that you were not hired for this project. On Upwork, we always recommend for freelancers not to start working unless the client sent an offer to the freelancer, the freelancer accepted the offer, the contract is showing as an active contract on the freelancer's My Jobs page, and the client's payment method is verified. These are minimum requirements for a freelancer to be eligible for Payment Protection
