Hi Powerlytic,

Good start to you profile. The only suggestion I have is to add one or two more items to your portfolio.

Everything else looks good. I do not see any issues or problems that will prevent a client from hiring you.

Hi, Upwork community! Can you please go through my profile portfolio and give me advice about my profile? does it look good?

Mike,

You should definately check all the 3-D graphic artists on Upwork you can find, looking for those with great earnings and lots of solid reviews -- high ratings, etc. See how they sell themselves.

There are 17 million members on Upwork; 12.5 million freelancers. There is way, way too much competition out there for you to get by wit that minimalistic approach of just listing a handful of software applications you know. You have to sell yourself ... you confidence, your affability. Mostly, of course, talk about your services. What have you been doing for the past five years where you only come up with a 20-word description of what you do? Get a blank peice or paper and write down on-word ideas and then later turn those words into sentences. Open up a bit if you can.

Hi Anthony!
Thanks a lot for looking at my profile, but I really can't understand why my profile information didn't update and shown not update bio. I already updated it, could you please check once again?

Hello Digital,

I looked through your profile and I think you have a good approach. After viewing your profile, I think clients will be informed about the services you provide and how you can help with their social media campaigns.

A lot of freelancers—even Top-Rated and Top-Rated Plus—are finding it difficult to get responses to their proposals.

Keep applying to jobs by writing great cover letters. Always create a custom cover letter based on the client's specific job requirements. Focus on the client's needs and requirements; highlight your qualifications; and tell the client how you will meet their needs.

Good luck!

Hello

My name is Liam, a top-rated writer on Upwork. I am seeking guidance on how to effectively engage with high-quality agencies and clients to enhance my freelance writing

Hello Liam,

There really is not a single strategy to engage with agencies on Upwork. I think the best thing to do is look for agencies that specialize in providing the type of writing services you offer, and reach out to the agency owner.

Click here to view various Agencies and scroll down to view and reach out to Writing & Translation agencies.

Hello Upwork community, I'm looking for suggestions on improving my Upwork profile.
Thanks

Hello Zeeshan,

I think your profile looks fine. I have only two small suggestions:

Photo: You should probably change your profile photo. The picture in your photo should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders that clearly shows your face; preferrably, with you looking at the camera lens. Read through Upwork's best practices for How to Choose A Good Profile Picture.

Skills: We are allowed up to 15 skills and it appears you have 14. You might want to add WordPress Development as another skill category.

The other areas of your profile look good. I do not see any problems or issues that would prevent a client from hiring you.

Hello Mehlab,

I looked through your profile and there are a few things you should work on.

Title: Capitalize the first letter of each word in your title and remove the trailing comma. Your title will stand out more if it looks like this: Content Writer | Proofreading, Writing, Data Entry.

Overview/Summary: Your summary has good information, but you might want to make it more assertive by removing unnecessary text and merging the first three paragraphs into one. For example:

I am a highly skilled Content Writer with a experience providing services to individuals, startups and established firms. I specialized in copywriting, article writing, blogging, and social media content creation and I can make professional CV templates and provide accurate proofreading services for individuals and firms.

I will professionally complete your work from start to finish. My goal is to write compelling content that promotes a positive image for your business and generates more leads for your products or services.

Ready to get started? I am available to discuss your needs and how I can help.

Don't forget to add more relevan skill categories to your skills list, and add a portfolio to show a few writing samples.

Since you are new to Upwork, the best place to start is by making your profile 100%. The best way to do this is to go through the following Academy Courses and Learning Paths:

Hello Everyone,

My name is Maaz and I'm a Website Designer and Graphic Designer. May you please provide me with some suggestions about my profile? I sent many proposals but did not get a job. Please review my profile and give feedback.😊

Maaz,

I'm sorry to say this, but your profile is not very convincing.

You start out by saying you have a passion for crafting visually appealing and user-friendly web sites. But people don't pay you for being passionate. It doesn't sound professoinal. What would you think if you took your car to a mechanic and he said, "I can do the job I am very passionate about fixing cars."

You would say, "I'm not paying you for your passion. I want you to guarantee my car will work."

The same rule applies here. Clients want you to assure them that the car will get done on time. They want you to guarantee you will do a good job; they don't care if you are passionate or not.

Later you say "I possess a strong understanding of design principles." That's terrific, but it's not convincing. What would be convincing is you telling us about the design principles you use and how they will benefit the client. Basically, you can't rely on "I have these skills." You have to convince us that this is true. The way to do that is through details. OK, you said you have a STRONG undersanding of this stuff, so you should be able do use layman's terms and talk shop about it.

The same thing with "responsive environments." I don't know what that means. Write a little bit about what that is so people can actually understand your expertise a little bit. That would be much more convincing.

Hi!

I've sent lots of proposals already but haven't got an invite/offer.  Can you comment on my profile so I could improve it and hopefully get an offer someday.  Gina Lyn L. - Data cleansing / formatting / preparation using Excel - Upwork Freelancer from Paranaq...

I just couldn't include my work experiences in different companies.

Hope to receive a feedback.

Thank you.

Hi Gina Lyn,

I suggest you revise your title to something like: Data Entry Specialist | Data Cleansing and Formatting. Using "Excel" in your title does not provide much value to clients.

Then, start your overview/summary with something like: "Highly skilled Data Entry Specialist with experience producing accurate data entry that helps my clients meet their deadlines and maintain quality standards. I can work fast and accurate as can be seen in the tests I have taken:"

Finally, I suggest you remove the last line: "First time in upwork - looking forward to be of help to others." Most clients will not care if you are new to Upwork; clients only care about results and if you can help them get results, that is all that matters.

Everything else looks good.

Hi Aleeza,

No, your profile is not setup properly.

First, you need to change your profile photo. The picture in your photo should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders that clearly shows your face. It is okay if you are wearing a hijab, niqab or another type of face covering, but you should not use a photo with your hand covering your face. Read through Upwork's best practices for How to Choose A Good Profile Picture.

Since you are new to Upwork, make sure your profile is 100% complete before applying to jobs. The best way to setup your profile is to go through the following Academy Courses and Learning Paths:

Thank you for organizing this Andrea G, I have a lot of profile views but I noticed that the views are not converting. I would appreciate it if I get a profile review.

Thank you!

Hi Faizat,

I reviewed your profile and everything looks good. I do not see any huge issues or problems that would prevent a client from hiring you.

Most freelancers do not receive invites after clients view their profiles and must submit proposals to be considered for a job. Lately, it has been a challenge for many freelancers--even Top-Rated and Top-Rated Plus--to receive invitations and responses to their proposals.

Keep applying to jobs by writing great cover letters. Always create a custom cover letter based on the client's specific job requirements. Focus on the client's needs and requirements; highlight your qualifications; and tell the client how you will meet their needs.

Good luck!

Thanks

Hello Halkano,

There are a few things you need to change in your profile to make it more appealing to clients:

Title: Use a more specific title based on skills or an occupation: Data Entry Specialist or Data Entry Expert.

Overview/Summary: Remove the following from the first part of your summary: "Hi, I'm halkano a graduate from Rongo University who pursuid Bsc computer science." since this provides no value to the client. Instead, start your summary with the most important information like: "I'm an expert Data Entry Specialist with extensive experience in data entry, data scraping, lead generation and web Research. I can help you with data collection, research and data scraping, using data for lead generation, and entering data into a variety of systems and databases. I can quickly learn and use new techniques, tools and extensions, and my organizational skills ensures your projects are managed appropriately."

Skills: You need to add more skill categories. You should include Data Entry, Data Analysis, Lead Generation and a few others. We are alloweed up to 15 skills.

Portfolio: Add more items to your portfolio to show samples of your work. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Geraldine,

It might be difficult for a makeup artist to win jobs on Upwork; my guess is, there are not many jobs in that skill area. However, there are some things you can do to improve your profile:

Title: Remove "with 5 years experience" This can appear in your summary, but does not provide value in a title. Instead, simply use: Professional Makeup Artist.

Overview/Summary: You have good information in your summary, but the beginning should sound more like an introduction. After that, you can tell clients which services you provide. For example:

I'm a professional Makeup Artist with 5 years of  experience applying makeup to enhance the appearance of clients before special events, photoshoots and fashion shows. I can carefully assess skin type to determine the appropriate color schemes and apply touch-up make-up and effects.

Portfolio: Add a portfolio to show samples of your work. This is very important for a makeup artist because clients will expect to see several images. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients.

Also, you need to change the category for your specialized profile. Right now, your specialized profile focuses on data entry, but you chose Supply Chain & Logistics Project Management, which is unrelated to data entry. This will create unwanted matches and Upwork will not match your specialized profile with relevant jobs.

Hi and nice to e-meet you all!

I am a new arrival here 🙂

I would greatly appreciate your feedbacks on my profile for the Senior QA position.

https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~010199c704dfe746d0

Thanks in advance!

Alina,

Your skillset is way above my pay grade, so I'll just give you some things to think about.

1. The bad news first: Your profile reads like a resume and it should read like a narrative. People who hire others want to hire people they can get along with, not machines. Instead of "Proficient at X, Y, and Z," you shouild rephrase that to "Using X, Y, and Z will help tie together your business needs ..." (I don't know what you do, so I can't come up with viable examples -- sorry.)

2. Are you writing your profile to suit your target audience? The basic assumption is that highly qualified techies don't need you, but laymen who don't know their elbow from a rocket ship do need you and laymen don't resonate with high-tech terms. You should consider dumbing it down for the people who hire you.  Again, just think about it, since I don't know tails to bulldogs what it is you do.

Another way to say this is when you go to get your car fixed, the mechanic doesn't say "I'm going to loosen the transaxle joints to realign the wizen switch with the grapplewonk."  You just want the mechanic to say "I'll have it done by Tuesday." You don't care how he or she does it ... you just want the results. So maybe don't explain the process so much; but go big on promising results.

3. Your profile is too long. Nobody, even techies, will read that much.

4, Finally, and this is important -- you are too soft on yourself. People don't want to hire technicians who are proficient at X, Y, or Z. They want to hire experts. You have to be more assertive throughout your profile. This is the Internet. You have to promise results they want, not do something you're sort of pretty good at. Experts only. Freelancing is for pros, not wimps.

And, finally, maybe Clark should look this over. He's helpful and he has a different critical eye than I have.

Good luck.

WOW Anthony!
I didn't expect to get such a deep, detailed, precise answer 👌
I understood and heard you!

I go back to my profile to rewrite it 🙂
