Hello, I posted a job yesterday and have chosen a freelancer I believe I would like to work with. He offered me a reasonable flat rate. I have already made a payment for the first milestone but he won't start the project without me paying in full. Is this normal or should I possibly search for another freelancer?
Thanks so much

Hi Carolyn,
When you enter a fixed-price contract with a freelancer, you’re required to fund at least the first milestone. Escrow is a neutral holding place where we put those funds until the project, or a project milestone, is completed. The funds stay in escrow until your freelancer fulfills their obligations and you, satisfied with the work, release them. Please do not release payment before the work is completed as you wouldn't be able to request an Escrow Refund in that case.
