Can we use debit card to hire a freelancer??

Hello, I m from PAKISTAN, I have added the Mastercard (debit card) of Faysal bank which have enables the international transactions, I have a freelancer account as well and I m doing International transactions, but when i m using the same card to hire a freelancer from my client profile, i'm getting the issue "Sorry, we couldn't charge the billing method you selected. Please try a different one". Do I need to use Credit card to hire freelancer?? Please guide on this matter.
