Hi. I got my first client on Upwork but they are unhappy with the work. So they have asked for a refund. This is a milestone project and I think the money is in escrow. I went to issue a refund but Upwork says there are no transactions to refund. Do I just end the contract? How can I give the client their money back or is this something they should initiate and if so how?

Hi Morenike,
Thank you for reaching out to us. If you end the contract, the funds in escrow will be automatically released back to the client. You can find more information here.
Additionally, your client can request an escrow refund and you’ll accept it. You can then respond to a request from a client to return money that is still in escrow and hasn’t been billed yet. You can find more information in this help article.
