Identity (ID) Verification

there is no menu item for verification by ID when I follow the link there is no such page either ... what is the problem please help me to pass verification. thanks

Hi Roman,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

You may be asked to complete a visual verification and provide a valid government-issued ID. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.



If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

I've submitted all required document for my account verification but for close to 48 hours now, I haven't gotten a feedback from the team and even the support didn't respond which is so unprofessional.

 

Please is this how the verification takes a long time?

It is now more than 72 hours since I submitted my documents but I still have not heard from you.

 Hello, I need help verifying my account, I do to have any badge yet, not even rising talent. Upwork hasn't contacted me for verification even though I have completed my profile and I have been up on Upwork since August this year. Kindly Help if you know a way to go about it

Hi Timothy,

 

I have checked your account and looks like it doesn't need further verification just yet. Please note that you will not be able to initiate the identity verification yourself and it cannot be requested. If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions on how to complete your verification. You may want to check this help article for more information. 

 

The same goes for the Rising Talent badge, it is assigned automatically when a freelancer meets the requirements you've listed, which can also be found here. This process is working as designed and we can't specify a reason why a freelancer isn't eligible for receiving the Rising Talent badge. Once you qualify, you should receive a notification letting you know

Hello,

 

I am having the same issue. I have recieved a warning banner stating the following:

Action required: Verify your identity by 11/11/2022 UTC to continue winning jobs on Upwork.

 

I went through the visual and ID verfication steps on last friday but I haven't been verified yet. Could someone help me with clearing this, please? I really need to have a verified account for my contract.

Hi 

 

I need your help in terms of my id . I dont have my id at the moment since I lost my wallet. And the easiest way to get one is nbi clearance but it will be available next week. Please anyone help me coz I will not be able to upload one my upwork account will be close in which at the moment I have an active contract. The deadline is tomorrow.

Your Upwork account won't be closed; however, your account will be put on hold, and you will not be able to withdraw your earnings on Upwork. Once you're ready to complete the verification process, please do so following the steps shared on the email.

Hi, I just got my first freelance gig last Sunday, and Upwork asked me to do:

1. ID document verification

3. Visual verification

Which I did on the same day. 

 

It says that ID document verification might take up to 3 days to review, while selfie verification takes a few mins to one business day to review. It's been 3 days now, is it normal to still have these documents under review?

 

Would appreciate any help as I need to be verified by the end of this week to continue working in Upwork. Thank you.

Hi, I had submitted my ID for verification on the 5th Nov and till date it is showing as pending. I am unsure if my proposals are being seen by clients, since the ID verification is pending. The location and selfie verification was done the same day, but ID is pending. Please advise why it is taking this long.

Upwork requires the id verificaton so I uploaded them.

It has been 3 days after I upload the id and I don't get any response from them.

so here is the thing I was told to verify my account and the passport I have is expired tried with it and never worked used an emergency passport that was hand written (I live in Ethiopia, I was in Saudi Arabia when I recieved my emergency passport so that I could return to Ethiopia) the thing is I didn't read the Requirment well and saw that handwritten document is not allowed.

 

will upwork ban me cause I accidently upload the wrong document.

I did my id verification few days ago and it is still under review and i have a payment still pending, won't the unverification of my ID affect my receiving my money?

Hello, please, I am new to Upwork. I have been trying to complete my identity verification for a while now and it has not been going through. I have been trying to upload my Nimc identity card which passes for an ID card in Nigeria and it's not working. I have tried to Upload both PDF and picture format but it keeps reversing on me. Sometimes it's technical issues, other times it just doesn't go through. I need someone to point me in the direction of what to do and my photo is yet to be verified as well and that is only supposed to take a day and I did that like 4 days ago.  The deadline for the verification is 11th of November and that's just a few days away. I need help.
