Membership Upgrade

Hello,

 

why does my Card buy connects but is declined when I try to upgrade to the Plus membership plan?

In general, this happens when the transactions you’re attempting on your card keep being declined by the bank. Please contact your card-issuing bank for more information about the specific charge decline.

I want to change my free basic plan to freelancer plus. I have done it before as well and that went smooth. After that I had to cancel it for few reasons. Now I want to get freelancer plus again but Upwork is not charging my existing balance which is sufficient enough and I can't seem to enter my billing method. I don't have PayPal and they are not accepting my visa card details
I also contacted my relevant bank and they said your international transactions are working, no issues from the bank. Need help. Thank you

Hi,

I'm working as freelancer digital marketer on Upwork and bidding on jobs related to my niche. Unfortunatelly, my connects have finished and to bid on jobs I need more connects. 

 

To buy connects, I'm trying to buy and adding payment method but I'm unable to add payment method. Please guide me in this matter so that I could start bidding on jobs.

Hi Naeem,

 

In order to be able to purchase Connects you will need to add a Billing method. Your payment method can be used only for withdrawing your funds from Upwork. Thank you.

Hi Mohit, 

 

I double-checked the billing method you tried to use recently, and I can confirm that the bank declined the transaction. Please check this with your bank and request for more information on why the charge was declined.

Hello,

   i am also getting same error message when I am trying to add my debit card in billing peyment methods.I didn't get any connects when I joined upwork and I am not even able to purchase new connects. It's so frustating that no work can be done.

I am sorry to hear about the difficulty faced by you while adding a debit card as your billing method. You may want to reach out to your card issuing bank to check the available funds and permissions to complete an international transaction on your card. You can also try other cards to check if the issue persists.

Hello,
I've checked with my bank.There is no problem from their end as
International transaction is enabled with my card. There may be name issue
as my card holds only first name and does not have the "Last name" which is
mandatory from your side
payPal is also not allowing me to add my card for payments , so I am not
able to purchase any connects and thus no job. Please help me .

Hi there! I have a problem. When I add the billing method via Visa card. The system shows that: "We are unable to authorize your card. Please add another billing method or contact your issuing bank".

I already checked with my bank, everything is OK. So could Upwork team help me to fix it to buy connects. Thank you so much!

Hi Loan,

 

I checked and it looks like your card issuing bank has declined the transaction. You might want to check with them directly so that they can assist you with the specific decline error. In the meantime, you may add a different payment method to purchase Connects. 

 

This can vary based on your location, but all Upwork users will be able to purchase Connects with a credit card or prepaid card. If you aren’t able to use a credit card or prepaid card or you don’t have an Upwork balance, in many cases you’ll be able to use PayPal. To see the options available to you, click here.

I put billing in the getting paid process, but I found a "We are unable to authorize your card. Please add another billing method or contact your issuing bank." error while adding an account. please help me am I lost it or there is a solution?

It seems like the transaction was declined by your issuing bank. You may need to reach out to them directly so that they can check and assist you further with the specific decline error. You may also try again using a different billing method.

Hello Eishwar,

Yes, you can use Payoneer MasterCard to upgrade freelancer PLUS membership.

Make sure that you have attached your Payoneer MasterCard to your default billing method.

Go to settings and then select billing methods and add your card. You can reach out to support for any help regarding it if you are facing any problem.
