Unable to add local bank account

Hi,

I am a freelancer from Canada. I can't enter my local bank information to get paid. When I try to enter the institution number and transit number, it didn't gave me the option to go to next page. I checked my bank information for many times, and I am pretty sure everything is right! Please help me to set-up my payment detail.

Thanks,

Ruiyu

Hi Gulnihal,

We’ve designed the process of Adding a Direct to Local Bank payment method to be as straightforward as possible. To add your bank account:

  1. Go to Settings  Get Paid
  2. Click Add Method
  3. Click the Set Up button for your chosen method
  4. Enter your bank account details, including bank codes
  5. Choose a payment schedule and click Next

Important things to know:

  • For security reasons, your new payment method will become active in three days.
  • Check that the name on your bank account matches your verified name on Upwork. If your payment method was flagged for a name mismatch, please contact support to resolve the issue or add a new payment method.
  • You should also contact your bank if you're not sure you have the correct information, or if you received an error when you tried to enter it into our system.
  • Upwork charges $0.99 per Direct to Local Bank withdrawal. Any additional restrictions, timing regulations, and fees vary depending on your bank.
  • Be sure that you enter your bank information, including bank codes, correctly. We want you to get your money on schedule and any errors could result in a failed transfer or delay. If you've exceeded the character limit on the Name on Account field, please contact your bank to get an appropriate abbreviation.
    • Since some banks aren’t in our database or have recently changed their information, your bank details may not be recognized. In that case, you can enter your bank information manually by selecting the "enter branch address manually" option. On the pop-up that appears click "enter it manually." Once clicked, a new form will appear to let you enter your bank details. You may want to re-confirm the bank code and other information on file with your bank before entering changes manually in order to avoid potential problems with withdrawals.

Hello Ajay,

I checked and see that you were able to add the account. It is now undergoing security verification and will become active in three days.

Hi Team,

When I am trying to add sort code under add local bank option, it is not working.

Hi Harsh,

If you enter the Sort Code and hit search, and it's not found, you should be able to see the option to enter it manually, as shown in the screenshot you shared.

You may want to re-confirm the code and other information on file with your bank before entering changes manually to avoid potential withdrawal problems. Please check out this help article for more information about the correct format of the IFSC codes.

Hi I have newly registered as freelancer and tried to enter my IFSC code in the GET paid but no valid bank details it is showing. After checking several times my correct bank information -still not able to add the bank details to get the new connects.

To buy Connect, you need to add a credit or debit card in the payment setting instead of get paid section. The get paid section is for withdrawal earning amount into your bank account.

Hi Ashtalakshmi,

I'm sorry to learn you are having trouble entering your IFSC code. If when you hit the search option it's not found, you should see the option to enter it manually as shown here.

You may want to re-confirm the code and other information on file with your bank before entering changes manually to avoid potential withdrawal problems. Please check out this help article for more information about the correct format of the IFSC codes.

That said, as Bharat mentioned, adding a payment method through the Get Paid page will only be for withdrawing your funds. If you are looking to add a billing method to buy Connects, this must be done through the Billing & Payments page.

Hello Vraj,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I’ll be glad to help. You may want to reach out to your bank to confirm that you have the correct IFSC code. You can confirm with your bank that you have their valid IFSC-registered name and address.

Since some banks aren’t in our database or have recently changed their information, your bank details may not be recognized. In that case, you can enter your bank information manually by selecting the "enter branch address manually" option. Here is a screenshot for reference.

Hello,
While setting up the local bank account details, I have entered each and everything correctly. No special characters, nothing. But still at the end it is giving me 'Incorrect Format' Error.

One major issue that I might see here is my name. As my last name has only an initial 'R' which is inline to Govt IDs and bank accounts, It is not taking in this platform. It is saying minimum 2 characters in last name.
I even tried to add an extra space after 'R' but still not able to setup an account.

PLEASE HELP..!!

Hi Vinakaya,

I can confirm that you've already added your Direct to Local bank payment method. For security reasons, please allow 3 days for this withdrawal method to become active. You can check here once logged into your account.

hi,

I am getting my withdrawal method set on Upwork through a direct local bank, Upwork gave me the option to fill IFSC code, but upon entering the code it shows bank not found* even after entering the correct code. I tried many times it still shows the same. I even contacted my bank branch even they said that the ifsc is correct so the problem is with upwork.

Please help.

I tried entering a valid IFSC bank code but it says invalid code and see RBI guidelines or something. How to resolve this?
