I think the most important tip:

Don't hire only one person.

Hire AT LEAST two.

That way you can compare them.

If you hire only one, what if they're terrible? But you don't know that? You think that's how all VAs are. But they're not.

So hire at least two.

And continue working with the best one. Fire the one who isn't as good.

And if you really want to find great help, hire even more people, always looking out for who provides you with the most value, and who are ones you can do without.
