Phone Number is already in use

I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

When trying to apply for a job I need to verify my phone number, but it says it's already in use.

I checked the only other account I know of that I have/had (a client account) and my phone number wasn't even attached to it. I have now even closed that account just to be sure.

 

Everyhting says "contact support" but that seems literally impoassible and is infuriating becasue every link and robo-chat just links to all their articles that DON'T HELP.

 

Hoping a moderater here or some actual human can help me...

When I first created my account it said my phone number was already in use but I do not have any other Upwork accounts. I tried creating a TextNow account and utilizing that number but that didn't work either. I'm aware I need to create a ticket so an angent can assist me however the little chat box did not prompt me to "Contact Support." I appreciate your help.

Hi UpWork! 

I just registered as a new and excited freelancer on the app. For some reason I keep getting a notification that my phone is already in use. I identified an old profile that was connected to the client side of the app so I closed and deleted that profile thinking that was it, but it's still giving me the same notification. This is causing me an issue as I cannot apply to current freelance jobs that are currently posted. I have tried multiple emails of mine to try to identify what email this may be tied to but I am having no success. 

Please provide support on this as soon as possible.

Hello Upwork

I just signed up for Upwork with my personal email. I once had an account through my work email. With my work account I used my personal phone number. When I left the job my email was deleted so I no longer have access to the account. When I try to inquire about new jobs I cannot follow through with the process because it says that my number is associated with another account. I am not sure what to do because I cannot access the old account. I tried going through the automated system, but it kept saying that I should try and type it a different way. Please help I need the money 😕

Hello,

I hope this can reach some sort of support personnel on here (seems like this is the only place that I can go to recieve help. I mean, come on, not even a support email address? It would be really nice!)

I made an account with my phone number many years ago when I was much too young for a job and just wanted to make some extra cash, but now I am 19 and a freelance creative writer looking to use this platform to help me gain job experience. I, however, cannot apply to or accept any work until my phone number is disconnected from whatever old account I had.

I created a buyer's account maybe 2-3 years ago and now want to explore my freelancing journey so I deactivated the old account and made a new one with my business email instead of my personal one. I'm not having errors saying my phone number is still in use from my deactivated account. Can any one help or have any solutions for me?

I cannot apply to any jobs because when I try, am asked to verify my phone number.  When I enter my phone number and error occurs saying "phone number already in use".  This is my phone number and has been for almost 20 years.  I cannot find any help anywhere.  I need to fix this so I can even APPLY for a job!  It tells me to contact customer support which just sends me to FAQs.  I need help ASAP!

You need to make a call or text to support. They solve your queries because we already have some issues with our profile or ID verification. We get solutions through support contact in call meetings.

Hi,

 

I've been trying to get my client account set up so I can start to post jobs on upwork. But I am not able to verify my phone number, despite the PIN being sent multiple times. I am based in Indonesia (+62) and everytime I input my phone number to verify it, nothing is sent. 

Can you help me to check if SMS verification is still working for Indonesia?
