Phone Number is already in use

I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

I am having the same issue with my old phone number not allowing me to move forward with creating a new account.

My phone number is connected to an old account that I no longer have access to due to the email being deactivated. Is there anyway I can clear that so I can use the phone number with my new account?

Hello, I am attempting to verify my phone number but I keep getting the message that my phone number is already in use. I was previously told to reactivate my old account and use that account as it was the one originally assoicated with the phone number but when I did that I get the same message that the phone number is already in use. I need help solving this. I closed the new account and reactivated the old account so now I'm stuck.

I'm having a similar issue with phone number verification when I try to apply for a job in the US it wants me to verify my phone number and then I get the message saying that I have tried to change my phone number too many times and I need to contact Support but I have only changed my phone number one time so I don't really know what to do. I can't apply to jobs at all. I can't do anything.

It is best to make sure that the account is really closed. Once the account is deleted/closed, the phone number associated with it can be used already.

 

Most of the time, freelancers would think that their account was closed but it wasn't. So it's better to recheck. If not sure, Upwork Support is open to any queries regarding this https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us

Hello Joanne,

When I try to apply for a position, I receive a "this phone number is already in use" message. I have also been unable to verify my phone number in my settings. How can I fix this?

I am experiencing the same issue too. I found a job where a customer needed urgent help. but this issue is blocking me while I just paid to become a Freelancer Plus. I don’t have a way to submit a direct support ticket to the team.
