Unable to add local bank account

Hi,

I am a freelancer from Canada. I can't enter my local bank information to get paid. When I try to enter the institution number and transit number, it didn't gave me the option to go to next page. I checked my bank information for many times, and I am pretty sure everything is right! Please help me to set-up my payment detail.

Hi Gulnihal,

 

We’ve designed the process of Adding a Direct to Local Bank payment method to be as straightforward as possible. To add your bank account: 

 

  1. Go to Settings  Get Paid
  2. Click Add Method
  3. Click the Set Up button for your chosen method
  4. Enter your bank account details, including bank codes
  5. Choose a payment schedule and click Next

 

Important things to know:

 

  • For security reasons, your new payment method will become active in three days.
  • Check that the name on your bank account matches your verified name on Upwork. If your payment method was flagged for a name mismatch, please contact support to resolve the issue or add a new payment method.
  • You should also contact your bank if you're not sure you have the correct information, or if you received an error when you tried to enter it into our system.
  • Upwork charges $0.99 per Direct to Local Bank withdrawal. Any additional restrictions, timing regulations, and fees vary depending on your bank.
  • Be sure that you enter your bank information, including bank codes, correctly. We want you to get your money on schedule and any errors could result in a failed transfer or delay. If you've exceeded the character limit on the Name on Account field, please contact your bank to get an appropriate abbreviation.
    • Since some banks aren’t in our database or have recently changed their information, your bank details may not be recognized. In that case, you can enter your bank information manually by selecting the "enter branch address manually" option. On the pop-up that appears click "enter it manually."​ Once clicked, a new form will appear to let you enter your bank details. You may want to re-confirm the bank code and other information on file with your bank before entering changes manually in order to avoid potential problems with withdrawals.

I am from India and when I am trying to add my Local Account and entering IFSC code it Shows "Couldn't find Bank Details".

Solve th problems.

Hi,

 

I can withdraw money from my individual account.

 

However I am not being able to do so from my agency account as my bank's IFSC is showing to be "Not Found".

 

Please help.

Thanks for replying. Hope you took a look at the attached screenshot?

 

I confirmed the IFSC from 2 sources:-

1. My chequebook

2. Bank website

 

And I didnt make any error, I made sure of that. This is possibly a platform issue. Would you check with Upwork's tech team?

what is the customer ID in Upwork add the bank payment method. i cant understand.

As of September 2023, there are new banking requirements for withdrawals in Pakistan (PKR) and Bangladesh (BDT) currencies that require you to add your "Customer ID Type" and your "Customer ID." Please be sure to remove and re-add your bank details from your Upwork account and update all necessary information so your Upwork payments go to your bank account. Note: Your Customer ID is either your 13-digit ID number or the alphanumeric passport number associated with the Customer ID Type you chose.

My sort code is fully correct but nothing is showing up, and Im sure my bank didnt move or anything

Hi Yeung,

 

You need to make sure that you're putting in accurate and correct bank information when adding a payment method to your account. You must enter these details accurately to withdraw your money. You can find more information on the common bank codes for each country here.

I have a similar issue. I was off Upwork for a while and by the time I returned my debit card has expired. As a result I can't submit proposals or apply for any kind of job until that is resolved.

so I got a new visa debit card from my bank (different from the bank I used before) and I have been getting error messages for 2days now. Please help. At least I should have access to my account, to at least work while this issue is being resolved. Thank you

Thank you for your message. I am sorry to hear about the error message. Could you please tell us more about the error message? I see that your Upwork account is placed on hold due to an expired card. This hold should be auto resolved after you remove expired card details and add a new card.

After trying that other card so many times and it wasn't working, i decided to go get a card from the same bank I used before, just incase it's the bank that that has the issue and tried it. Now it says I have exceeded number of tries. I have contacted support but no one has replied yet. Please help.

Hi, i'm facing the same problem. I have contacted my bank and they said everything is fine from their side.

Are you referring to the card you recently deleted? I checked and can confirm that your bank did not permit the transaction. If you're trying to add this to your membership plan, please contact your card-issuing bank to confirm if they allow recurring transactions on your card, as Upwork payments are classified as 'recurring.'

If the issue persists, we suggest that you contact Paypal in order for them to check why the payment method keeps getting declined. I am Unable to Verify my Bank Account on Upwork. After entering all the bank details the information is showing "Your bank was unable to verify your information". Please contact them and try again.
